The Village Hall was built in 1979, after being under consideration for about three years. The Community Council, at that time, were struggling to find suitable land to build on, when Mr Owen Jones, Tyn Towyn very kindly donated the land to the community. The construction cost was £50,000. £6,500 was collected from the community through fund raising and the rest was raised from grant aid. The Village Hall was opened the following year, in 1980, by Lord Cledwyn of Penrhos.
An extension was added in 1990, this is the area where the committee room and storage area are situated. Between 2000 and 2001 the kitchen area was refurbished, extended and a disabled toilet added, this was made possible by a donation from the WI. More recently, in 2015, £12,000 was spent on refurbishing the floors, curtains and general decoration.
The Village Hall Management Committee is made up of two Community Councillors, one County Councillor and regular users of the hall. One member from each ‘user club’ is entitled to represent users on the committee and two more are elected from the residents of the village.
Regular users of the hall include: WI, Girl Guides, dancing groups, indoor bowlers and artists. It can also be used for parties and a meeting place for groups including the Community Council, who is the trustee of the hall.
Income for the running costs and upkeep is raised through bookings and an annual fête, which is held on the first Saturday of August.
The Village Hall is the local Polling Station, is always well used by the local community and considered to be a valuable asset to the village of Trearddur Bay and district.
